Dancing in the Dark #6

5/5/2013

Welcome! I've managed to participate in Sunday Snippets and Weekend Writing Warriors twice in a row and I'm looking forward to visiting many writers today.

I've chosen a few more sentences from my recent release, Dancing in the Dark. This is a novella prequel to my Entangled Suspense novel. It looks like I'll keep my title, In the Arms of a Stranger, and that it will be released in October.

Last week we saw Matt pick up the phone to call his CIA contact to try to find out what happened to Janey's brother. This snippet is a continuation of that and is in Janey's POV :

Got a favor," he said. "Friend of mine, JP Blackmon." Pause. "Yes."
He turned away, the muted light filtering in from the outside made his dark hair look darker and shadowed the straight line of his backbone bracketed by muscle. Janey heard the sound of the tinny voice on the other end, but couldn't make out what was said.

"No," he said into the receiver. After a moment, he added, "Let me know."

Comments are welcome. Please visit Weekend Writing Warriors and Sunday Snippets on Facebook for links to quick peeks at some fantastic books.

Want to snag a copy of my romantic suspense reunion on the run novel, Against the Wind for .99? You'll find it and other books in several genres temporarily reduced in price  at Book Lovers' Buffet site. Sale ends Sunday, May 5.

Definitely intriguing snippet - makes me want to know what the tinny voice said. Consider adding something after He turned away ... I was left wondering turned away from what? perhaps to stare out the window or ???

Great snippet. Thank you for posting.

he definitely did not give away whether he received the least little hint. At least he is going to stay connected to try to find an answer. "Let me know".

That doesn't sound promising . . . I wonder if the brother's into something? Cool snippet! :)
