I'm still working on the first draft of what I hope will become Just One Look, a novella length sequel to Against the Wind. I've posted earlier bits of this for the past two weeks. Please take a look if you missed those. This is still from Drew Davenport's point of view, as he's getting ready for his sister's wedding. His mother has come to hurry him along, asking if he needs help. Comments are welcome. Here are today's six:
It was on his lips to tell her he didn't need anyone's help, but that would hurt her her feelings. She'd been hurt enough when he'd been shot. And he probably did need help, not with the tie, but with the shoes. Bending still wasn't going so well.
Hell, not much was going well, bending only the smallest part of the entire mess.
“Please,” he said, and watched her smile.
