This week's Six are again from To the Limit, a romantic adventure/romantic suspense novel set in the fictitious South American country of San Mateo. (If you're curious about the real setting, visit my Pinterest board.) Last week I posted the opening six sentences, where the hero, Nicholas Romero, a diplomat, provides his first impression of Mary Beth Williams. Now it's her turn to describe him when she first sees him at a cocktail party:
She spotted Romero as he mingled with the guests. He was hard to miss. Even from across the room, Mary Beth couldn't help but notice his intense blue eyes, so at odds with his black hair. On the evening news he didn't seem as tall. Or as handsome. Or as … intimidating.
